The National Black College Alliance,
founded in 1989, is an organization of college students and alumni from historically Black
colleges and universities (HBCU's). The NBCA is dedicated to increasing the awareness of
HBCU's to high school students in urban cities across the nation, and to recognizing the
outstanding contributions HBCU's and their alumni have made to shape American society. The
Alliance provides resources for HBCU's through volunteering, mentoring, and supporting
philanthropic efforts. To this end, the NBCA creates an atmosphere where high school
students, college students, alumni, and adults can experience educational and personal
growth. Ultimately, the NBCA is committed to creating a new generation of civic leaders.
